These beautiful handmade ramen bowls are specially crafted by Sandra Oliviera, a talented boutique artisan from the very East of Italy.

Each ramen bowl is made from a combination of cream and brown stoneware, combined by hand to give beautiful, unique patterns on the bowl.

Neriage is a Japanese pottery technique that involves mixing, layering or laminating different coloured clays together to create unique marbled or patterned designs throughout the clay body. 

Every item is made by hand, so slight variations in colour, texture and appearance are natural- and intentional. What you receive will be beautifully unique, not mass produced.

Meet the Maker

Sandra Olivieri is the hands of Asperitas- a small studio in the far East of Italy, creating beautiful pieces as well as holding workshops regularly for the local community.

Sandra practices sustainable methods in her work, from the use of low colour clays and glazes, to recycling all leftover clay to create zero waste pieces, and investing in a sedimentation tank to recycle water and ensure clay doesn't seep into waterways.

Meet the Maker

Asperitas produces functional ceramics made to be used, handled, and lived with. Each piece is thrown on the wheel or hand-built by Sandra herself, from clays selected for their mineral character and natural colouring rather than their uniformity.

Rather than relying heavily on glazes and added colours, Sandra works with the clays’ own tones, blending different mineral compositions using the Japanese neriage technique- a method of layering and folding different clays together to produce marbled, smoke-like patterns that are entirely unpredictable and entirely unrepeatable. No two pieces are the same.
